My name is Claudia McNeely and I am the creator behind Forest Fairy Miniatures and 3D Prints.
I have always loved everything miniature. I have collections of miniature clocks, tea sets, etc. that I have saved over the years. I did not realize I could make miniatures until I joined Pinterest in 2014 and saw all the miniature tutorials there.
This blog is the story of my journey into making miniatures.
I mostly made fairy furniture until I purchased a Cricut Maker in 2019. That totally opened up a new realm for me. I cannot cut a straight line no matter what I do, which hindered me from being successful in making things. The Maker cuts many types of materials including wood. And it cuts straight!
I made connections with Ara of Bently House Minis and Lisa of Spellbound Miniatures. They both make easy-to-understand video tutorials and sell svg files to use with the Cricut. I credit them with teaching me most of what I know. Ara is the queen of distressing things and making them look old and worn. That is my favorite method. It is very difficult for me to make something look pristine, so I age them so it doesn’t matter.
I have progressed to designing my own patterns and svg files. When I started, it was difficult to find them for miniatures, so I want to share my creations. I also need to sell some of my makes so I have room for more.
Now that I have a 3D printer, it has opened up a whole new world of miniatures.
